Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon anime

  1. SYNOPSIS

When Bell was little his Grandpa would often tell him tales about heroes and how they always saved the girl from a monster. Bell kept the tales about Argonaut told by his Grandpa close to his heart. When he was old enough he became an adventurer, not only to become strong but to pick up girls in the dungeon. However, he came across a Minotaur which resulted into being saved by a beautiful girl with golden hair and golden eyes called Aiz Wallenstein. His current goal now is to catch up to his saviour and be as strong as the person that he admires.

  2. REVIEW

WARNING: I MAY GIVE SPOILERS AWAY

I look for certain things in an anime. When I look for slice of life stories with no drama I find stories like Non Non Biyori and Locodol. When I look for humorous comedy I find D-Frag and Sabagebu: Survival Game Club. When I look for good fantasy stories that involve beautiful ladies and chess pieces I find High School DxD. When I look for battles or games that don’t involve physical fighting I find No Game No Life and Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma.

Now, another requirement has been crossed off my list. I have looked for an anime that is based on a roleplaying game like Final Fantasy online but it’s more of a story than an online game. I find that aspect in the form of this anime, Dungeon Girls.[2]

It covers many aspects of online gaming when it comes to conquering certain levels of the dungeon. The adventurers come from all kinds of races from human, to elves, to animal people and so on. They can also buy armour, collect dropped items from the monsters and have weapons and armours made for them by blacksmiths. The biggest shout out to the game aspect is the levelling up. Instead of being part of link groups the adventurers are part of Familias but they can still form their own parties with other adventurers.

I pretty much like everything about this show really, especially the characters and the fights. Bell had a great growth as a character and it wasn’t all down to his Realis Phrase ability. There were times where I wanted him to get a grip but I then remind myself that he’s only fifteen years old. He’s still a young man so it’s natural that he won’t be the bravest dude in the dungeon as he’s still learning about life and the nastiness in the dungeons. However, his growth grew at a tremendous rate as he delved into the dungeon. It was literally thanks for Aiz. Because of Aiz saving him it made him strive to become stronger. He literally went from strength to strength and grew at a quick rate thanks to his ability, Realis Phrase.

His ability made it awkward for Hestia so she hid that fact from him, both to protect him for himself and from other Goddesses who might be watching in secret. She is always severely jealous of the fact that Aiz is the reason why he’s getting stronger, not her. She’s still happy for him by all means but she probably is resentful of the fact that Aiz is the cause of his growth.

I feel that Aiz isn’t the sole reason for his growth. Everyone played their parts really well. Aiz not only gave him a reason to get stronger but she also physically trained him and his combat skills improved as a result. Hestia gave him a reason to protect someone precious and one of his important people is Hestia. Not only does he see Hestia as a Goddess but he sees her as family.

Everyone at the Mistress of Abundance, Syr, Mia and Ryu all played their part by encouraging Bell and being good friends. Eina helped by introducing him to a good shop of armours which led Bell to finding an armour outfit crafted by Welf Crozzo. Lili helped by becoming his supporter, without her, he wouldn’t be able to collect so many stones. Without Welf, whom he eventually meets, he wouldn’t go down to the lower floors to fight the stronger monsters. Welf also crafted him the Ushiwakamaru weapon which was moulded from a Minotaur’s horn.

Freya played her part strongly, albeit, indirectly… if it wasn’t for her, Bell would never have learned the Firebolt move, and if it wasn’t for her, he would never have faced and beat that Minotaur. She was also the reason he overcame his fear of Minotaurs. As a result he also gained the Argonaut special manoeuvre. Freya is a wicked Goddess, yet, she probably is among the characters of this show who contributed the most to Bell’s growth. I really do like that aspect of the story. A villain who is helping a hero get stronger I think is really unique. Is it really for her own gain? Or, does she genuinely want to see him get stronger? It’s no secret that she desires him but it seems as though she’s willing to be patient, until she can get what she wants. I think Bell can feel her gaze from a distance, but he doesn’t necessarily know that she’s the source. Does he know that she exists? It will be interesting to see what happens if or when Bell meets Freya.

Freya is doing good deeds for Bell, but not necessarily for the right reason…

Apart from the nasty men who picked on Bell I do actually like all the characters from this show. I really like Hestia as she’s both cute and very, very funny. I especially enjoy the moments when she gets jealous of the other girls who come into contact with Bell. However, she’s serious when she needs to be. I also find it touching whenever she embraces Bell through comfort and relief. I think she’s the perfect Goddess for Bell. I also really enjoyed when she activated her Arcanum divine power to stop the fighting in episode 12. That was a really cool moment.

I think developing relationship with girls on all levels is the underlining theme of this show as the title is about picking up girls. Haha. Bell’s Grandpa told Bell that he can be a hero and protect girls and I think that really stuck with Bell when he grew up. I think at this moment Bell really does have a pick from all the girls in this anime.

All the ladies are really nice in their own way. Hestia is great. Syr is just really cute and innocent and has a lovely personality. Eina is very considerate but is probably a little awkward at times. The Amazon Twins, Tione and Tiona are really cool and they have really cool Amazonian looks about them. Demeter is a beauty and it’s a shame that she didn’t appear more often. Aiz is strong but very, very innocent in nature. Riveria is really cool and I like her green hair as it gives her that nature look. Ryu is awesome both in appearance and in combat. Mikoto is cute but I can’t help but wonder why she looks sad all the time. Lili was not very nice at first but she eventually came around to be a good supporter for Bell. I even somewhat like Freya… she’s beautiful and all but I do think she has a little bit of a crazy side about her and I think I’m actually intrigued by that crazy side. Haha.

If there’s one thing that I probably didn’t enjoy so much it was the way that Bell screamed every time Aiz or another girl touched him affectionately. Never mind potions or an antidote I think what Bell really needs is a throat lozenge. With the amount of screaming that he does he’s bound to get a sore throat one of these days. In all seriousness, I think it will do him good if he didn’t overreact as much as he already made Aiz sad when he ran away from her. Then again, he is fifteen so will it be expected for a boy to run away?

I think the more girls flirt with him, the more he will get accustom to it and take it in his stride. If a girl wants to show her affection towards you, you should let them.^^/

The fights were pretty awesome too. My favourite ones included the time when Bell beat that monkey to protect Hestia, to beat that Minotaur to show his growth and when he beat that Monster Rex along with Ryu, Welf, Asufi and Mikoto. They were all really intense and in my opinion they showed Bell’s growth as a person and as an adventurer.

I would have like to see Naza more and I definitely would have liked to hear her speak. She sounded like a really interesting person and I enjoyed visualising her voice when reading the Light Novel books. Sadly, the anime didn’t show her as much as I would have liked.

Bell, Hestia, Lili and Welf Endcard

In all honesty, I could talk about this forever but I feel that it would be wise if I to make it as concise as I could.

What I would really like to see is a special episode or an OVA about the time when Bell and Hestia first met. I read the epilogue in the first LN[3] book and I really, really enjoyed it. I really hope that that small chapter gets animated someday. =)

Thanks for Reading. =)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Thirteen Thoughts

Hestia Endcard

I must say that I am impressed with the final episode. Usually the final episodes are either a hit or a miss. For me, this was a hit. It was really exciting as it was full of intense fights and action. I do wonder though, was that the same Monster Rex that Aiz beat by herself? Ryu estimated it to be a level five boss so it could very well be the same one. My thoughts will probably be answered in the books, but it’s not really that important. The important thing is that it was beaten.

I think the Monster Rex and the other dungeon monsters brought the best out of everyone. My wishes came true when we got a glimpse of just how cool and strong Ryu really is. She did extremely well and held her own not just against a monster rex, but a level five monster rex.

The ones that mattered the most I think were the most impressive. Welf swallowed his pride and used his own magic item sword to attack that monster rex. It looked like it managed to do some damage too. I really liked Ryu’s wind magic and I’m amazed that she was able to stand after using her spell and taking some damage. I especially liked Mikoto’s technique. It was as if she was using a samurai sword in form of magic to slice through that floor boss and covered that magic glow around that floor boss. She managed to keep him at bay for a good while as well. Good for her. I wonder what level she is. Level 2? Level 3 maybe? I need to make a big shout out to Asif. I liked the wings on her back. I’m guessing she’s as strong as Ryu.

All those adventurers played a humongous part as it led to Bell powering-up and eventual victory. His powered-up Firebolt was impressive and I think it aggravated the Monster Rex which made it focus on Bell instead of Ryu and Asfi. However, after Hestia and Lili’s encouragement and remembering his Grandpa’s words he woke up, refreshed. It looks as if he used a sword from the Loki Familia. Whether one of the Loki fighters left it behind or not, I’m not sure, but I’m pretty certain that Bell used it. He wielded that sword pretty well and he managed to cut the Monster’s top half of the body.

Ultimately he destroyed the rest of the body using the Hestia Knife. To me, that was a great way to beat a floor boss. I expected him to faint afterwards but luckily he managed to stay conscious. He must be close to Level 3 now.

What Hermes said at the end was quite interesting. This Zeus person that he mentioned… it’s implied that this Zeus is Bell’s Granddad. Does that mean that Zeus, a God, actually has his own familia and is related to Bell? If that’s the case then it would make a lot of sense. I wonder if that means that Bell belongs to two familias? One familiar led by Zeus, the other, by Hestia. I think it also makes a lot of sense of the fact that in Greek myth Zeus has many, many children with many Goddesses due to his reputation being intimate with women. Haha. In Greek myth Zeus and Hestia are also siblings. Demeter is also Zeus’ sister. In this show he’s very much into women and has encouraged Bell to be affectionate when it comes to the ladies. However, his scenes were a regular part of Bell’s flashbacks and thoughts.

I could be way off the mark here but I personally believe that this could be the case. =)

I’m glad the Loki familia didn’t come back to help Bell as I wanted everyone in his party to show off their abilities. I’m also glad that Bell saved those who have mistreated him in the Labyrinth Utopia. His attitude is really what sets him apart from the other adventurers. He reminds me of Edward the Blue Engine. He’s kind to others, even if they mistreat him badly. That’s the kind of dude Bell is.

I am glad that Bell, Hestia and his party joined Aiz and the rest of the Loki Familia at the Mistress of Abundance. It was nice to see them all having a meal together. I reckon it will be only a matter of time before Bell’s party works together with Aiz’s party. That will be fun to watch.

Bell sleeping on Hestia’s lap was a nice way to end the series.

Thanks for Reading. =)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Eight Thoughts

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon anime This was definitely exciting to watch. It looks like Bell got a little jealous of Aiz or more like had his confidence knocked when it was announced that Aiz defeated a floor boss. In the books they’re referred to as a “Monster Rex.” And I think this desire to catch up to Aiz made him very determined to beat her in combat and he held his own for a while and managed to pull off a counter-attack. Eina is right, Bell shouldn’t compare himself to Aiz, but naturally, he is. Syr was cute when she hugged Bell’s arm and wanted a favour. That favour… is washing the dishes at the Benelovent Mistress. Haha. I wonder what she was thinking when she was listening to Bell and Ryu’s conversation. Surely she couldn’t possibly be jealous of Ryu. It turns out that Ryu was an adventurer before she became a waitress. That explains why she was able to intimidate that nasty man that chased after Lili and knocked Lily down with a simple coin throw. I did get the sense that she was an adventurer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mia Grand was a former adventurer too. Ryu’s words definitely helped Bell and made him connect some dots, so to speak. I made a prediction that the Minotaur was going to strike during Loki Familia’s Expedition, and I was right, but I was partly wrong that Aiz wasn’t going to come. As soon as she heard that Bell was in trouble she literally took off. That was sweet of her, putting him ahead of the Loki Familiar’s expedition. They had members from the Hephaistos Familiar tagging along as well. This tells me that Loki and Hephaistos are on good friendly and/or business terms. My heart was really in my mouth when Bell was fighting with that Minotaur with all his might. I think seeing Aiz gave him the boost that he needed. Whilst Aiz was set in saving him she also understood why he wanted to fight alone and I actually think she believed in him. No one else from the Loki Familiar did as they don’t really know Bell as well as Aiz did. It seems like she helped a lot more than practice in combat. I was really pleased in the end when Bell beat that Minotaur, and he looked quite cool when he used that Minotaur’s sword. I was especially pleased that he won because Bete was being quite the jerk and it’s nice for him to get put in his place. Hopefully now Bell will be able to let go of his fear of Minotaurs. It’s partly good but partly bad. It’s partly good for the obvious reasons, but partly bad because… well, Freya. It was her plan all the long. I don’t know exactly what was said in the books but I do get the impression that she wanted Bell to conquer his fear, I.E., beat the Minotaur. If you look at it that way, she won. She appeared to be overjoyed with his growth and skills too. Initially when Bell suggested to Lili that he felt like he was being watched I thought it was because the raging Minotaur was on his way. Now that I think about it I actually think he felt Freya’s “stare.” I think he can sense when Freya looks at him from afar but doesn’t necessarily know that it’s her. It’s more like an intuition on his part. And Bell is S-Rank in all areas of Level One. Congratulations Bell. It looks like he will be out of commission for a good while though. I wonder if all elf people can read Hieroglyphs? I think Eina was able to read Bell’s status a little but it seems like Riveria was able to read the whole lot. I wonder what will happen now. What else is Freya going to do. I think it’s only a matter of time before she is exposed. Hestia kissing Bell on the forehead was both touching and cute. It was a nice and gentle way to end the episode. =)

Bell and Aiz Endcard 2 In my episode 7 thoughts blog I said that the Levels go from A-I with A being the strongest and I being the weakest. This is incorrect as the highest level is actually the letter S. This makes sense as the letter S is commonly the highest rank in anime and manga in terms of fighting ranks and battle skills/points. Thanks for reading. =) Sayonara.^^/ Ryan.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Seven Thoughts

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon anime

Ah, that Freya. It seems that she sent one of her men, possible a familiar member, Ottarl, to the battlefield to fight a Minotaur. It seems like Ottarl was deliberately trying to frustrate a Minotaur to the point of rage where that Minotaur would get strong through the pit of rage. What is Freya plotting? This is evidently connected with Bell as she will do everything she can to have him. But, why get her hands on a Minotaur?

I have a theory… perhaps Freya knows that Bell had that incident with a Minotaur and he’s holding onto that bad memory. So, Freya deliberately got Ottarl to pick up a raged up Minotaur and will force that same one to fight Bell. That way, if Bell fights that Minotaur and beats it then perhaps he’ll be able to let go of his traumatic situation from weeks ago. Either that or she wants him to get killed so she can go to heaven and make a claim to him. I doubt she will try to kill Hestia again.

This episode was definitely going to be about Aiz but I never anticipated that Aiz would train Bell in combat, let alone interact with him. In a way I’m glad we haven’t found out about Aiz’s past yet as I rather see her interact and develop a nice relationship with Bell.

Naturally, Bell tried to run away after seeing the person he admired. I know exactly what he’s going through when it comes to crushes. You don’t know where to look when someone you like or admire looks at you right in the face. I don’t think I would run away though… well, not now. Haha.

I did notice one thing though, something which I nearly overlooked. Bell bumped into Aiz’s bum, accidentally, when she cut him off from running away. Initially I thought it was just right place, right time for Bell. However, I suddenly remembered that Aiz doesn’t allow her Goddess, Loki, to touch her anywhere, especially her bum. Yet, she didn’t bat an eyelash when Bell touched her, albeit, accidentally. This tells me that she’s comfortable with Bell.

Aiz training Bell was a nice moment. It does seem like she is a bit of an airhead, something which I suspected deep down. I get the impression that she wanted to avoid combat training with him but was left with no choice after… well, having no more choices to choose from. Haha. It was pretty funny when she kept on knocking him out. And every time he gets knocked down he would wake up on her lap… that was funny but it might do him good if he stopped screaming for once. He’s going to give himself a sore throat. XD

What was that sudden afternoon nap all about? It was like the battle of wills, I think, of Bell’s conscience. The Grandpa represented his Devil side and Hestia represented his God side. However, I’m glad he didn’t kiss Aiz in the end as that would have left a bad taste in my mouth. If he did have to touch her no matter what than I would give Aiz a taste of her own medicine and have her head resting on my lap. Of course, Bell wouldn’t think of that.

I do beg the question… was Aiz genuinely asleep? Initially, when she said “wait” I thought she was just sleep talking. However, perhaps she was fully aware what was happening and wasn’t prepared to receive Bell’s kiss? She did remind me a little bit of Snow White when she was lying down with her hands on her ribcage.

I did fear for Bell when Aiz went to the booth where Hestia works. It was only natural that Hestia would get upset and jealous. Bell really did let his guard down. On a side note, I always thought that Bell would treat Aiz to something to dinner first, rather than the other way around. Hestia was adorable as ever when she’s jealous. Not only is she competing against Lili but now Aiz. She does have a point though… Bell is spotted with a different girl in every scene. Haha.

I’m going to venture a big guess here and say that that Minotaur will most likely attack when Aiz goes on that expedition with the rest of her familiar. That way Bell has to fight that Minotaur without her help. Plus, he’s learned a great deal from Aiz and looks much stronger and more skilled in physical combat.

Hestia's Evil Grin

So far the anime have not really explained how the levels work. I think it’s probably sensible as I personally found it a little complicated when I read the book the first time. I think it goes like this… Bell is a Level One adventurer.

Adventurers are ranked in five areas; Strength, Defence, Utility, Agility and Magic.

You get Battle Points, so to speak, in the form of letters and numbers. I is the lowest, A is the highest. If you are on a Level 1 I-999 in Agility and your God/Goddess just levelled you up then your Agility will probably be something like Level 1 H-12. It depends what you did in the dungeon. Bell tends to get high scores in the Agility department as he manages to dodge monster attacks. He levels up quickly in all departments due to his Realis Phrase ability.

It will be interesting to see what happens when he reaches the level A-999 in Agility. When he reaches Level Two in Agility he would probably start from I again as you would work your way up through each Level. But, does this mean that Bell will become a Level Two in all areas automatically? Or, will he just be a Level Two in Agility and Level One in the rest of his attributes. I haven’t read the rest of the Light Novel Volume Two yet so I’m not sure if these questions have already been answered.

Whatever the case, I’m enjoying the anime very, very much. =)

Thanks for reading. =)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Two Thoughts

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon anime

This was a great episode. =D This episode focuses on chapters 4 and 5 of the Light Novel.

Freya has finally made her appearance. Well, technically I guess it can be argued that she actually made her debut in episode one but you only see her eyes. She is a beauty but so far she is probably the prettiest anime lady that comes at the top of my dislike list. Haha. XD

I’m slightly gutted that the anime didn’t expand on the full conversation between Freya and Loki from the LN.[1] I really enjoyed their interaction as Aiz is just casually standing behind Loki. It can’t always be helped as sometimes it’s not possible to adapt every little thing that has happened from the original story. Eina’s scenes were omitted as well and I feel that her appearance was quite significant in the original story. However, in the scheme of things, they’re not the most important parts of the story so I can see why Eina’s part was cut from that scene.^^/

However, the scenes that were adapted were the ones that I wanted to see the most. I especially liked the part when Aiz is casually looking down at the crowd and then spotted Bell. They didn’t seem to show what Aiz was thinking, but that’s probably a good thing. It leaves me room to speculate what’s going through her mind, even though I have an idea of what she’s thinking. =D

Loki is funny to watch and is much more eccentric then I originally perceived her. I thought her reactions were funny, particularly when she was left to pay the bill at that dine place. Her squabble with Hestia was just as funny and I can’t decide who came out on top. I would say that it’s a draw as Loki beats Hestia in height and Hestia beats Loki in the bust department. Haha. I thought she was going to be evil with a name like Loki, but I was wrong. It’s just her eyes that look evil. Haha.

Syr is such a lovely girl and was impeccably cute when she was acting innocent in front of Bell. Bell wanted to refuse her lunchbox offer but he just couldn’t say no to her. She also told that Mia lass to forgive Bell. I don’t think Syr made a lunchbox for herself though. I think she actually made it for Bell and Bell alone. I’m glad things ended amicably in the end between Bell and the workers at the Mistress of Abundance. Mia even gave Bell some wisdom advice. I thought that was cool as she was acting like a Mum or Aunt. Something tells me that Bell is going to become a regular customer at that bar. 😉

I was most looking forward to the part where Hestia and Bell join in the festiveness of the MonsterPhillia. I originally pictured the scene being set at night as I assumed that it was going to be like a Japanese type festival. However, I think it was better that it was set in midday. Bell feeding Hestia a crepe was pretty cute, and he certainly went red in the face. Haha. Hestia looked jealous as soon as she learned that Bell is looking for a girl. Her jealous pouts are really cute to watch. It was especially funny when she was slapping his back after she was levelling him up. It was a nice moment when Bell promised her that he was never going to leave her.

It was very sweet of Hestia to go out of her own way and prostrating for days on ends for Bell’s sake. I think that prostrating pose is actually called “Dogeza.” That basically means you kneel down to appeal strongly for a favour or to strongly apologise for something.  If that is the correct term then it makes sense why Hestia was doing that. It seems that Hestia looks up to Hephaistos, and it isn’t because she’s small. Haha.

The ending was a tearjerker. Bell locked her up behind some random bars so they could protect her from that huge ape. If you look at it another way, it can also be a symbolism. That is the symbolism of not being able to do anything as she is trapped.  It’s really cool that Bell is going to take a stand and fight that big ape. It wouldn’t surprise me if that Silverback was stronger than the Minotaur that Bell encountered previously. As Hestia is his family and she’s a damsel in distress he was able to move despite feeling fear.

DanMachi is really good so far and I’m pleased with how it’s been animated. Roll on next week. =)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode One Thoughts

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon anime

I really enjoyed the first episode. It’s been a while since I’ve been excited for a new anime. My memory tells me that this episode covers 3-4 chapters from the Light Novel volume one. The first bit when Aiz saves Bell from that Minotaur is actually the prologue from the LN.[1]

Aiz is exactly how I pictured in my head. She’s super strong when she’s in battle mode but has a sweet innocent side when she’s not. I tend to have a thing for girls when they struggle to express themselves, and it looks like Aiz fits that category nicely. Naturally, Bell fell for her. I get the impression that Aiz is most vulnerable, if she ever lets her guard down, when it comes to eating. Food is the weakness for most people in the world.

I do like how Bell is perceived in the anime. He acts like a young boy who is full of enthusiasm and curiosity. He’s more innocent then I perceived him and I’m glad the anime made him this way. I felt sorry for him at times, especially when that cat dude was making fun of him. I don’t think there was any shame of being scared of that Minotaur. He can use that experience as a platform to get stronger. =) I must confess though, it was pretty funny when he ran through the street covered in a Minotaur’s blood. XD Eina’s lovely. She acts like an older sister, I think.

I’m glad the elf girl with green hair scolded the cat hair. I think her name is Riveria. She even punished him by suspending him in the air. I don’t remember that happening in the LN, so I better re-read the first volume. I really like her voice, it’s like she’s got a bit of a animalistic rasp whenever she speaks.

Hestia is much cuter and bubblier then I pictured from the Light Novels. I really like her voice; I think its spot on. She sounds like a more mature yet flirtier version of Mirai from Locodol. They are voiced by the same person, Inori Minase. Her facial expressions and reactions are really cute too, especially when she’s in teasing mode and jealous mode. Even if she does act hyper at times I do think she has a mature side, and we saw it when she carried Bell back to the bed. I liked her reaction to Bell when he “accepted” Hestia’s invitation to sleep in the same bed. Haha… Did anyone else notice how Hestia’s hand was on Bell’s bum? That was a convenient fall to my estimation. Haha.

I like Syr a lot more than I thought I would. In the Light Novels I sort of pictured her as demure as Yukimura from Haganai. However, in the anime she is bubblier than I thought she would be. I like her even more, and I thought it was sweet that she gave Bell her lunch so he wouldn’t starve. Slap a ring around her. Haha. Wait… what about Hestia and Aiz? I would say, slap a ring around them as well! Haha.

That’s the great thing of this show now. I can read the first book again and I would be able to appreciate it a lot more. I made my predictions what I thought the War Shadows were going to look like… I was dead wrong. Haha!

I like this show already. I’ve watched the same episode twice. I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw this for the first time. Bell’s goal seems to be picking up girls in a dungeon and being their knight in shining armour. However, so far, he is the damsel in distress and Aiz is his knight in shining armour. I hardly think that matters though. It doesn’t matter what roles someone plays in the relationship, as long as it’s healthy and loving. =) I wonder if he will be able to interact with Aiz again?

Bell’s ability “Realis Phrase” is also unique and I think this gives him a nice balance in terms of ability of strength. This gives him the opportunity to grow stronger and he has improved his stats already upon his encounter with Aiz, much to Hestia’s dismay. Haha.

The opening song is pretty good. I try not to watch them in case I get spoiled. I liked the way Bell and Hestia brushed their teeth and swayed in unison. That brought a smile to my face.

I’m looking forward to the next episode, and I sincerely hope at some point that the anime will air the epilogue from the LN. The epilogue is touching and nearly brought a tear to my eye. =)
