Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea

Atelier Shallie Game

  1. REVIEW

It’s finally happened, after getting this game two months ago for my birthday I have completed the full run through of Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea on my first attempt.

I really enjoyed the storyline that went with it and I liked it especially how all the playable characters in battle were mostly female. I would like to see this as a TV series as I reckon I would enjoy it.

It was really quirky that two of the leading characters shared a nickname, Shallie. I got the impression that the idea of a dusk world followed on from the previous game, Atelier Escha and Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. Well, it did, seeing as its part of the Dusk Trilogy. Haha. I think in all honesty I do like this game better than Atelier Escha as I personally found it more interesting and it was easier to understand. In the Escha game I got the bad end three times because I didn’t really understand what to do. However, in this game, I found it much more straightforward and found that I hardly needed prompts or help guides from the internet.

I really liked the story and particular that it didn’t all revolve around the dusk plot. Stera wanted to be a chief of her village and Lotte wanted to learn to fly a broom. I must admit when I say that I really, really enjoyed practising “flying” with Lotte when Wilbell gave her the task to fly. I also really enjoyed when Lotte made her Flying Board and flew it around the harbour. Haha. I really do like Lotte, she’s a really funny and bright girl. I knew I was going to like her as soon as a I was given the option.

You can find my art of her on DeviantArt here…

Shallie

All the characters were good too and I liked how Wilbell had a bigger role in this story. She was good in the Escha game and felt that she was underappreciated so I’m especially pleased that she was an important character in this game. I downloaded Escha as an additional character to battle with and I find her very handy. It was fun to fight with Homura, Miruca and Kortes but my favourite people to battle with (besides Wilbell) were Jurie and Keithgriff. They were elegant and cool in their attacks.

I thought the battles and the synthesising alchemy was good. I found them simple and straightforward for the most part. I think finding items through fishing and mining was quite refreshing and fun. It’s those little quips that made me enjoy this more than Escha.

I did get somewhat frustrated at times during chapter 9 and 10 as I got rather confused as to what I should do. I found some of the bosses really hard to beat so I had to fight some of them on the easiest level. Even then, it was no walkover. I barely beat the King of the Beasts and the Prototype 0 on the easiest level. I did manage to beat 5 major bosses on the normal level so I wasn’t too disheartened.

I take into account that I’m not a passionate gamer, I’m a casual gamer so it’s to be expected that I don’t do well in these sort of games. Having said all that on this first run through I did manage to complete 73% of trophies in the game. This lifted my pride and spirit. I chose the end of where Lotte stays in Stellard and synthesised alchemy stuff with Stera and Miruca.

It was definitely worth all the hours that it took to complete Lotte’s route. On the second run through I will try and enjoy the story more and try and not complete every single life task. I could try and go for that but I found that trying to complete every single step and task to be somewhat tedious and detracted from what was actually important- having fun.

Roll on round two!

Ps, it was cool to see Ayesha make a small cameo.

Kitacon Part Two: Day One

Hilton Hotel

KITACON PART ONE: THE ANTICIPATION

KITACON PART THREE: DAY TWO

KITACON PART FOUR: DAY THREE

  1. Travelling and Arrival

I didn’t really get much sleep to tell you the truth, I was extremely nervous and the anticipation did get the better of me at times, especially during the car travel. I felt sick. It was a mixture of lack of sleep, the long car drive to Birmingham and not knowing what to expect. I heard the hotel of Hilton was very well established but when I got there I was completely blown away.

I walked into the hotel and immediately the place was full of vibrant cosplayers and convention enthusiasts talking amongst themselves happily. I did feel claustrophobic as I didn’t know where to walk or what to do, so I just followed Bro and his partner, Sarah and trusted them. I don’t take lifts unless it’s very necessary so I took the stairs… it took me five minutes to find them so I had to ask someone for directions. It’s not often I talk to random people so that’s good for me. I tend to struggle a lot in social situations, most specifically in big crowds. I tend to feel squashed and get headaches and feel dizzy. Day one was especially quite troubling.

I really liked my room. I got the disabled room as I wanted to feel as comfortable as possible as really this was the first time that I was undergoing this kind of experience. The bed and room were exquisite and it did meet my needs and made me feel more relaxed, but it’s nothing compared to my own bed.

  1. Photo-Taking

What made me especially nervous was the thought of photo-taking cosplayers. I was incredibly anxious on a big scale. Usually I take pictures of landscapes and objects to distract myself from being scared in an unfamiliar environment. However, I’m always careful as to not take pictures of people as I don’t want to be seen as being inappropriate. However, I came to this convention with the intention of taking pictures of cosplayers. If I was really not up for it then I could at least try and pluck up the courage to take a photo of a person dressing up as Hestia if someone came as Hestia.

I was making my way to the lounge area with Bro and Sarah when the site of long black pigtails and blue ribbon caught my attention. Someone was dressing up as Hestia! In that sudden moment of not over-thinking I decided to be brave and ask her for a photo. So I did… my words was mumbled and jumbled up. Haha. She gave her approval and I took a picture of her. I felt scared but very relieved afterwards. I told her that I was uploading my photos on my blog site in case she wanted to look at her pictures online.

Once I got over that barrier I felt more confident to ask more cosplayers for their photos. I asked the two ladies who were dressed as the Mizukage and Hinata characters for their photos and I actually ended up having a little conversation with them. They were impeccably nice and I actually regret not keeping the conversation going as I was enjoying talking to them. I never anticipated that I was going to talk to them, it sort of came naturally. It seems like I can hold a conversation better when I let the words flow as oppose to planning a conversation.

Everyone was approachable and I actually gained more confidence as I spoke to more people. In some ways I don’t really know why I was worried about starting conversations to begin with. Everyone was friendly to talk to and I didn’t feel intimidated or uncomfortable at all. Well, I did feel uncomfortable but more due to the humongous amount of people and unfamiliar environment rather than the individuals themselves. =)

I did change my wording a little bit when I spoke to them. Instead of saying that I was uploading them on my site I told them that I would upload them onto Kitacon Facebook page. Its easy access and they would all be able to find their photos easier on Facebook then to try and remember my name. In hindsight I wonder if I should have made cards but realistically speaking it was probably for the best that I didn’t.

I’m not really a pro at photography. I just wanted to take photos for fun and to show off everyone and their amazing cosplay outfits. After all, everyone had worked really hard on their outfits.

  1. Mario Kart 8 Tournament

I was intrigued with the tournament but it never entered my mind to enter the competition. In the end I decided to compete. I was in the first round along with Bro, Sarah and another girl who joined later on. The first two would advance to the semi-finals. I like games but I’m not good as I’m not an avid gamer. In my mind, I was going to come last so I just sat back and tried to enjoy the experience.

To my surprise I actually went through to the semi-finals and in the process knocked out my brother! How the heck did that happen? I was really over the moon. Whatever happened after that was a bonus.

In the semi-finals I was actually on par with the elite gamers. In some of the races I was actually first. I was really out-doing myself. I couldn’t believe that I was doing so well. I was casually talking to my competitors in the process. That was fun because we were competing against each other but it was far from fierce.

My lack of experience in gaming did catch up to me as at times I kept on mistiming shell dodges and kept on flying off edges… I would have finished second overall but I did absolutely terrible on Rainbow Road. I think everyone does. Haha. In the end, I came third.

I think I did so well because I was the most chilled. Everyone else was more competitive and they were leaning forward whereas I was casually sitting at the back of my chair.

Sarah got through to the final and came third. The Splatoon man, who was racing as Wario, is very, very good. He’s also a very nice chap and I’m glad I had the opportunity to speak with him and had a photo taken with him. =)

I got a few good responses dressed as Superman. I didn’t get asked for photos but I don’t really mind that as this is an anime convention not a comic book convention. =)

  1. Raving

For those who know me well will know that raving, at night, in a crowd of people with extremely loud music is most definitely not my thing. However, I did have a bogey with Bro. Me and Bro took to the dancefloor. I showed off some of my own unique dance moves and at one point we were right bang in the middle of the crowd… strangely enough I felt ok-ish and I enjoyed interacting with a few peeps. They seemed like very nice people and I will look forward to speaking to them more if the opportunity arises. =)

If you were to tell me five years ago that I was going to rave at a party and stay in a hotel for three days I wouldn’t believe you. That was a very unique experience and I certainly will not forget that experience any time soon. That was probably the first and last ever time that I will rave. XD

  1. Evening

For some reason, I felt rather down as soon as I got to my room. I felt tired, jaded, confused, stressed, and anxious. I also realised at that point that I had a really bad headache. I think that was probably the only time that I had time to myself. I think if I’m honest, deep down, I wanted more time to myself. However, I was conflicted with my own thoughts. In one respect I wanted to make the most of the experience at Kitacon but on the other hand there were at times when I wanted to be completely alone.

It really is such a surreal experience. Being in this hotel, at this event, sleeping in my own room, it’s very weird. I had no idea what I was expecting and to be honest I still don’t really know what’s happening. I feel that it’s all too face paced and in some ways I probably exhausted myself and pushed myself too hard to socialise. The whole day was basically just catching up with me…

I felt much better when I started to watch Non Non Biyori Repeat on my laptop. I just kept on re-watching the opening song and I gradually felt my spirits lifted. Non Non always make me feel better whenever I am down. It cheered me up on the car journey to Birmingham and it cheered me up at this precise moment. Not only is it a therapeutic and cute story but it actually reminds me of home.

It was that moment that I felt comfortable for the first time since arriving at Kitacon. To begin with, Kitacon is what you make it, even if I do choose to spend the entire weekend chilling in my room as long as I have fun, what does it matter?

Roll on Day 2. =)

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Anime Review

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon anime

  1. SYNOPSIS

When Bell was little his Grandpa would often tell him tales about heroes and how they always saved the girl from a monster. Bell kept the tales about Argonaut told by his Grandpa close to his heart. When he was old enough he became an adventurer, not only to become strong but to pick up girls in the dungeon. However, he came across a Minotaur which resulted into being saved by a beautiful girl with golden hair and golden eyes called Aiz Wallenstein. 2. REVIEW

WARNING: I MAY GIVE SPOILERS AWAY

I look for certain things in an anime. When I look for slice of life stories with no drama I find stories like Non Non Biyori and Locodol. When I look for humorous comedy I find D-Frag and Sabagebu: Survival Game Club. When I look for good fantasy stories that involve beautiful ladies and chess pieces I find High School DxD. When I look for battles or games that don’t involve physical fighting I find No Game No Life and Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma.

Now, another requirement has been crossed off my list. I have looked for an anime that is based on a roleplaying game like Final Fantasy online but it’s more of a story than an online game. I find that aspect in the form of this anime, Dungeon Girls.[2]

It covers many aspects of online gaming when it comes to conquering certain levels of the dungeon. The adventurers come from all kinds of races from human, to elves, to animal people and so on. They can also buy armour, collect dropped items from the monsters and have weapons and armours made for them by blacksmiths. The biggest shout out to the game aspect is the levelling up. Instead of being part of link groups the adventurers are part of Familias but they can still form their own parties with other adventurers.

I pretty much like everything about this show really, especially the characters and the fights. Bell had a great growth as a character and it wasn’t all down to his Realis Phrase ability. There were times where I wanted him to get a grip but I then remind myself that he’s only fifteen years old. He’s still a young man so it’s natural that he won’t be the bravest dude in the dungeon as he’s still learning about life and the nastiness in the dungeons. However, his growth grew at a tremendous rate as he delved into the dungeon. It was literally thanks for Aiz. Because of Aiz saving him it made him strive to become stronger. He literally went from strength to strength and grew at a quick rate thanks to his ability, Realis Phrase.

His ability made it awkward for Hestia so she hid that fact from him, both to protect him for himself and from other Goddesses who might be watching in secret. She is always severely jealous of the fact that Aiz is the reason why he’s getting stronger, not her. She’s still happy for him by all means but she probably is resentful of the fact that Aiz is the cause of his growth.

I feel that Aiz isn’t the sole reason for his growth. Everyone played their parts really well. Aiz not only gave him a reason to get stronger but she also physically trained him and his combat skills improved as a result. Hestia gave him a reason to protect someone precious and one of his important people is Hestia. Not only does he see Hestia as a Goddess but he sees her as family.

Everyone at the Mistress of Abundance, Syr, Mia and Ryu all played their part by encouraging Bell and being good friends. Eina helped by introducing him to a good shop of armours which led Bell to finding an armour outfit crafted by Welf Crozzo. Lili helped by becoming his supporter, without her, he wouldn’t be able to collect so many stones. Without Welf, whom he eventually meets, he wouldn’t go down to the lower floors to fight the stronger monsters. Welf also crafted him the Ushiwakamaru weapon which was moulded from a Minotaur’s horn.

Freya played her part strongly, albeit, indirectly… if it wasn’t for her, Bell would never have learned the Firebolt move, and if it wasn’t for her, he would never have faced and beat that Minotaur. She was also the reason he overcame his fear of Minotaurs. As a result he also gained the Argonaut special manoeuvre. Freya is a wicked Goddess, yet, she probably is among the characters of this show who contributed the most to Bell’s growth. I really do like that aspect of the story. A villain who is helping a hero get stronger I think is really unique. Is it really for her own gain? Or, does she genuinely want to see him get stronger? It’s no secret that she desires him but it seems as though she’s willing to be patient, until she can get what she wants. I think Bell can feel her gaze from a distance, but he doesn’t necessarily know that she’s the source. Does he know that she exists? It will be interesting to see what happens if or when Bell meets Freya.

Freya is doing good deeds for Bell, but not necessarily for the right reason…

Apart from the nasty men who picked on Bell I do actually like all the characters from this show. I really like Hestia as she’s both cute and very, very funny. I especially enjoy the moments when she gets jealous of the other girls who come into contact with Bell. However, she’s serious when she needs to be. I also find it touching whenever she embraces Bell through comfort and relief. I think she’s the perfect Goddess for Bell. I also really enjoyed when she activated her Arcanum divine power to stop the fighting in episode 12. That was a really cool moment.

I think developing relationship with girls on all levels is the underlining theme of this show as the title is about picking up girls. Haha. Bell’s Grandpa told Bell that he can be a hero and protect girls and I think that really stuck with Bell when he grew up. I think at this moment Bell really does have a pick from all the girls in this anime.

All the ladies are really nice in their own way. Hestia is great. Syr is just really cute and innocent and has a lovely personality. Eina is very considerate but is probably a little awkward at times. The Amazon Twins, Tione and Tiona are really cool and they have really cool Amazonian looks about them. Demeter is a beauty and it’s a shame that she didn’t appear more often. Aiz is strong but very, very innocent in nature. Riveria is really cool and I like her green hair as it gives her that nature look. Ryu is awesome both in appearance and in combat. Mikoto is cute but I can’t help but wonder why she looks sad all the time. Lili was not very nice at first but she eventually came around to be a good supporter for Bell. I even somewhat like Freya… she’s beautiful and all but I do think she has a little bit of a crazy side about her and I think I’m actually intrigued by that crazy side. Haha.

If there’s one thing that I probably didn’t enjoy so much it was the way that Bell screamed every time Aiz or another girl touched him affectionately. Never mind potions or an antidote I think what Bell really needs is a throat lozenge. With the amount of screaming that he does he’s bound to get a sore throat one of these days. In all seriousness, I think it will do him good if he didn’t overreact as much as he already made Aiz sad when he ran away from her. Then again, he is fifteen so will it be expected for a boy to run away?

I think the more girls flirt with him, the more he will get accustom to it and take it in his stride. If a girl wants to show her affection towards you, you should let them.^^/

The fights were pretty awesome too. My favourite ones included the time when Bell beat that monkey to protect Hestia, to beat that Minotaur to show his growth and when he beat that Monster Rex along with Ryu, Welf, Asufi and Mikoto. They were all really intense and in my opinion they showed Bell’s growth as a person and as an adventurer.

I would have like to see Naza more and I definitely would have liked to hear her speak. She sounded like a really interesting person and I enjoyed visualising her voice when reading the Light Novel books. Sadly, the anime didn’t show her as much as I would have liked.

Bell, Hestia, Lili and Welf Endcard

In all honesty, I could talk about this forever but I feel that it would be wise if I to make it as concise as I could.

What I would really like to see is a special episode or an OVA about the time when Bell and Hestia first met. I read the epilogue in the first LN[3] book and I really, really enjoyed it. I really hope that that small chapter gets animated someday. =)

Thanks for Reading. =)

My Birthday Weekend

Birthday Cake

My Birthday week has been pretty good.

On Friday I played some games with my brother. We completed the original Donkey Kong Country game as a tag team. I still need to get used to the original Snes controller as I died quite a lot! We’re getting closer to completing the Mario 3D World. I find that level mega hard.

On Friday I spent most of the time just chilling and writing down future creative ideas whenever they came into my head. I spent most of the evening watching Captain America: Winter Soldier with my family. To me, you can’t beat a good evening if it’s filled with a Marvel film. I got a lot of nice presents and cards too. I got Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea from my brother. I got Dungeon Girls manga, Avengers: Age of Ultron T-Shirt and Non Non Biyori art book from my parents and swell pair of jogging pants from my sister. Plus, some cash from my relatives.
The icing on the cake, pun intended, was that my sister made me a lovely birthday cake. It was Mario complete with toadstools, pipes, coin bricks, clouds, piranhas and stars.

The following morning I booked a slot to go Segway at the nearest forest (which is still pretty far from home!) It was my treat for my family. It was really good fun. I was slightly anxious as there were 14 available spaces and when I checked there were 5 left and that means that there were going to be a lot of people attending.

We arrived three minutes before our time slot so it was a bit of a rush. We all walked. Then, we power walked. Then, we lightly jogged… five minutes late and we basically ran for it. XD We parked in a different car park from last time and we were not familiar with the terrain of this car park. Haha. The events never usually start on time but being late was not ideal for anyone, especially for me. I arrived at a good time and luckily the Segway was still on

It was even better as my family were the only ones who took part in the actual session! All the strangers who have booked have either cancelled or didn’t bother to show. It was like a personal tutorial for everyone in the family. We all had fun and it was just as good as the previous time that I went.

I am very tired now so I will probably take this opportunity to spend the next few days to chill out. I haven’t had much sleep as I’ve been too busy having fun.

Thanks for Reading. =)

Final Fantasy VII Game Review

Final Fantasy VII Logo

I found out this morning that SquareEnix are going to remake Final Fantasy 7 and decided to write a little blog about my thoughts at the prospect of this big news.

  1. FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE THOUGHTS

I must admit that I have mixed feelings about this.

The more passionate roleplay gamers will know that SquareSoft are the original makers of Final Fantasy 7 but they’ve now merged with Enix to form SquareEnix. In one way, I feel that it could be one of those ‘best left to the imagination’ situations. In my opinion it’s one of the best games ever made and it’s most certainly among my favourite games of all time. It was of its time too and I know I can play it again and enjoy it now as much as I did back then.

How will SquareEnix go about this? Their battle system style is much different than SquareSoft. Will they apply the battle system like they did with Final Fantasy 14? Or, will it be exactly like it was in FF7? The staff said that it will be a complete remake but in the modern version so I think they will try and capture the original story as much as possible, but, in this era.

I will give SquareEnix a chance though as we have only seen glimpses of the trailer. It’s certainly given me another reason to look forward to winter and find out more about it. The other reason to look forward in winter is Christmas. =D The graphics look pretty cool and I can hear the music that sounds identical to the original game.

Part of me is thinking that FF7 should have been left alone, but part of me is very excited at the prospect of playing it on the PlayStation 4. =D

  1. FINAL FANTASY VII GAME REVIEW

Final Fantasy 7, as I said before, is one of the best games that I’ve ever played.

I first saw it in 1997 when I was watching my brother playing it. I really enjoyed watching it, almost as much as watching Thomas the Tank Engine. =D It took me a while to start playing the game myself, without Bro’s assistant. I started sometime in 2003 and I think I completed it in the same year.

The gameplay is really fun and the story is really good. It had everything from drama to comedy moments. The stories behind the fights were great too and I liked how I could travel to different destinations on the big map. You don’t have to just walk on the map as well. You can travel by submarine, the big airship and the chocobo. Hehe. I think one of the best things about it were the side games based at the arcade, especially the snowboarding game. My Dad even played that snowboarding game and was really good at it. =D

The music is pretty darn good as well. I could just listen to that soundtrack all day and never get tired of it. Sometimes I would just stop playing the game for a minute just for the sake of listening to the music. It’s like when I play the Super Mario and Atelier Escha game. Sometimes I just stop the gameplay and enjoy listening to the music.

I like how it’s not just one plot. The main villains are the Shinra Corporation but the main antagonist is Sepirioth. I must say that I think he’s quite possibly one of the best villains that ever existed. He’s got a good look and he was a good guy turned bad due to certain circumstances. I think he’s one of those not evil but misunderstood type characters, like Magneto. Still, I didn’t approve of him killing Aerith.

All the characters are likable. Tifa was one of my first crushes back then and I’m sure it will rekindle once the game comes out. Haha. I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about the FF7 remake and drew a quick sketch of Tifa. I think my favourite character though has to be Red XIII. I thought he was cool as he was like a Lion. In the battles and storyline I tend to favour Cloud, Barrett and Red XIII. I did like Tifa and her kickass combat skills but I just preferred using Barret and Red XIII.

In some ways playing this game was like watching a show but I could control the plot and flow of the story. I didn’t really know what happened at the end but I somehow managed to complete the game and I was left with a black screen. The music was playing the main theme of FF7 and it was just like stars zooming in towards the viewer. I’m not really sure what happened then, and I’m not really sure now. Haha. Did the world end and explode? Or, was it just an ending credit?

I especially enjoyed re-naming the characters. I’ve always been a creative person and I especially enjoyed coming up with my own names in my own way. I can’t really remember the names I gave all the characters but I know I named Cloud after myself. =D I would welcome the prospect of choosing the names for the characters but I can’t really see SquareEnix making this an option. I wouldn’t have any complaints if choosing names wasn’t an option but it would be nice if this was.

To sum it all up… this is definitely one of my favourite games of all time. It will definitely go in my Top Ten, or possibly my Top Five.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Episode Eleven Thoughts

Bell and Hestia Endcard

I was a little nervous as I really didn’t know what was going to happen. Bell and his party looked like they were in pretty bad shape. Still, I’m glad they managed to reach the eighteenth floor and even managed to get past that Goliath. I wonder how that Goliath was able to respawn so quickly. Perhaps a lot of time passed between the last episode and this one? Or maybe it respawned through special circumstances. Hopefully, Freya is not involved and that is just a coincidence.

I really like the look of the eighteenth floor, the Labyrinth Utopia. The tree and the crystal ceilings are beautiful. I was just as surprised as Bell to learn that this floor also has a town. It makes sense as this designated area is actually a safe point. It’s pretty handy.

It seems that the Loki Familiar have finished their expedition. I’m going to assume that they managed to complete the 59th floor. Many congratulations to them. I bet it’s going to be big news when they go back to the surface as it is a big deal. I’m glad that Bell got to see Aiz again. I must say that I didn’t think that the Loki Familiar would appear again so quickly. I’m glad they did as it meant that we get to see Aiz again.

I knew Mikoto would be the one that would do the Dogeza pose. I think Bell forgave Mikoto and her party as he didn’t seem as angry or as unforgiving as Lili and Welf. I did expect that though. I think something is up with that Mikoto girl and I think Bell is sensing that something is up with her. I just think she looks sad all the time, then again, it could be just the way that she’s been drawn. Haha.

Bell and Hestia’s reunion was touching and almost perfect- until Lili dragged Hestia off of Bell. Haha. I sort of feel bad as I thought it was funny with the way that Hestia was rolling down that mountain. XD It was also funny when she interrupted Bell’s and Aiz’s moment when Aiz invited him out to town. Technically, Hestia is wrong here. Bell didn’t invite Aiz out, Aiz invited Bell out. So, Hestia could still be the first one for Bell to ask out to town. Well, Hestia was Bell’s first ever date, depending on how you look at it. Lili was there too, albeit, we only hear her rather than see her.

Does Aiz not know what a date is? I can’t really decide if she was annoyed at those Amazon twins for making a fuss over Bell or if she was a little jealous. She is a very pure lady so she wouldn’t flirt with Bell in the way they did as she shows affection through less physical means. I know she will willingly give Bell lap pillows but I don’t think that counts as flirting.

Hestia is right to be suspicious of Hermes as I am as well. Who told Hermes to take a look at Bell? Oh dear, don’t tell me he’s in cahoots with Freya. In the previous episode I had a theory that Hermes and Freya could be at war with each other and both would want to take Bell away from Hestia. But what if they were actually working together?

They’re two episodes left and the season needs to finish strongly with a dramatic twist. What if a bunch of Minotaurs venture down to the eighteenth floor whilst the Loki Familiar battle Goliath? It has already been shown that the monsters can go onto different floors with a push in the right direction, mostly from Freya. Something is going to happen I reckon and I wouldn’t be surprised if Hermes spearheads that operation against Bell and co.

That and it looks like Welf gets a new weapon from Hephaistos. He doesn’t look happy about it. If that is a new weapon and not a blacksmith tool then he will need to show what he can do in the dramatic ending battle. And I really would want to see more of Ryu in action. It was only brief but she certainly knows how to take the monsters down. =)

One final note, Argonaut is a good name for Bell.

Thanks for Reading. =)

WARNING: I MAY GIVE SPOILERS AWAY

I thought this anime was amazing and it’s definitely my kind of show. When I first watched No Game No Life I laughed a lot, but when I re-watched this I actually laughed much more than I did on the first occasion. And I enjoyed it just as much.

What I especially like, aside from the comedy, is the type of battles that take place. I always wanted to see a battle without the use of violence of physical punch up and No Game No Life offers just that. It’s like a battle of wits and intelligence as well as the use of mind games. Everything is literally decided through games and I really, really like that kind of concept. It’s unique but very refreshing.

The battles, which are never resolved with violence, are far from boring. I find them incredibly exciting and clever. There are scenes or little dialogue quips that often indicate a victory for Blank. When I’ve watched this show for the first I was amazed at how clever these hints were and I really like how the flow of the battles and story go. I like the sort of games that were played too. You could literally play any kind of game. Chess games suits Kurumi and the word game suits Jibril as she is the playful type who likes to mess around.

The last battle of the show was just brilliant and I especially liked how everyone kept on dodging and shooting each other. They kept on cancelling each other out. I was especially pleased that Izuna ended up having fun playing against Sora and Shiro. It’s nice to see that enemies can get along. Well, to be honest, I don’t think there are any enemies that exist in this show, they’re more like challengers. Izuna is a good example. She was playing a game to keep her country’s territory but I wouldn’t say she’s an enemy as she didn’t really do anything wrong. Her fellow countrymen didn’t do anything wrong either. They cheated in games but they could get away with it because they never get caught.

I like the concept that each chess piece represents certain life races, with Inmanity being in 16th place. I think Sora and Shiro want to conquer all the races so that when they come together, they can take on Tet, aka, God. He’s a cool customer Tet but I wonder if he held himself back when he played Blank in that chess game. All the other races are cool too. I especially like the elves and Fifi, but I also like Jibril and the Flugel race. It makes me curious what the higher ranked races are like, especially the Phantasm who appear to have their own travelling planet to stay on.

The Ex Deus no doubt will be incredibly strong but so far I get the impression that they’re acting like advisors for Tet. The Phantasm look to be a formidable race too. They have their own planet/land type thing that floats and travels in the air so they must be strong.

Sora and Shiro are actually quite interesting as individuals. For two people who do not blend in society well they certainly have adapted to this game world. It’s quite interesting how Sora was able to read situations and atmosphere as well as out-witting people. If someone lacks experience in society you would have thought he’d struggle to read the atmosphere and understand how people’s minds work. Perhaps he studied psychology and observed people. There’s a difference between observing people and interacting with them.

I seriously feel sorry for Steph. Sora and Shiro completely use her and humiliate her in many ways. It went to the point where they used her name as a derogatory term. Haha. I actually think Steph is the best character in this show and I really think she’s underrated and overlooked due to being a “Steph.” Whoops, I just insulted her by accident. Haha. I think it’s pretty funny how Steph’s Granddad resembles the same King from the deck of cards. Haha. =D

If Steph never existed in this show then Sora and Shiro would never have won many battles. And if it wasn’t for her Blank would have lost to Izuna. I think deep down I knew or more like I wanted, Steph to be the one that brings Blank victory. What I also like about Steph is her over the top reactions and when she was in a love-struck mode over Sora. I could literally not stop laughing when she banged her head on the tiles to the point where her head was bleeding. I was literally crying with laughter. =D

High School DxD Volume Two Review

High School DxD Vol 2

Konbanwa.^^/

I am thrilled to announce that I have recently uploaded my 50th blog post. So far, I have been enjoying it a bunch. =)
It came to my attention that I don’t really review or scrutinise manga like a professional. I also realise that some readers will not appreciate being spoiled during review. I understand and respect those points.

However, I talk about manga based on my enjoyment through my casual rambling. You will notice that I go off-topic in many of my reviews, like this one. =) The whole purpose of me blogging is a chance for me to express my feelings and how I handle social situations and cope with Autism. I figured that reviewing manga would give me another reason to blog and express myself, rather than just talk about Autism. I actually have read a few manga but so far I’ve chosen to review the ones that I’m really, really enjoying.^^/

I may not be the most professional reviewer but I’m still going to keep reviewing casually as doing it this way makes me happy. =D

  1. REVIEW

Issei Hyoudou, once human pre Volume One, is now the servant of the voluptuous devil, Rias Gremory. Issei has entered into a forbidden friendship with the nun of the church, the pacifist sister, Asia Argento.

Issei’s devil master, Rias, prohibits Issei from interacting with Asia, let alone befriending her. Doing so would create a striving commotion between the Devils, Fallen Angels and the church. As you can imagine, when Issei comes into contact with Asia and rushes to her aid, he’s practically asking for trouble. How will he handle Heaven’s malevolent schemes?

I enjoyed Volume Two as much as the previous volume, in more ways than one. Since this is classed as an ecchi manga and it’s targeted towards a mature audience, it’s easy to assume that it’s just full of unnecessary cheeky moments… you would be surprised that this isn’t necessarily so. It has much more to offer then beautiful ladies that expose their sensual skin and figures. I effectively refer this as a guilty pleasure bonus. 😉

With how Issei is treating Asia as a friend it does make me wonder if their relationship is going to turn into something more serious. It even implies at the back of the book that a forbidden romance could transpire between the two. Their first encounter was very nice, and their friendship certainly has blossomed in this volume. Issei may be perverted, but he’s not a jerk about it. He treats Asia with respect, and likewise, Asia treats him like a precious friend. I definitely like Asia; I tend to connect strongly with innocent and kind girls like her. I’m not that keen on aggressive girls as I don’t necessarily find them funny and it will take me a while to accept them for who they are. However, I have no such worries with innocent and polite girls like Asia as I find them to be endearing.

This is when I got concerned about Rias… She instantly grew on me when she made her debut in the first book, she is simply gorgeous. So, because she is adamant about Issei abandoning his friendship with Asia, I was concerned that she was going to dislike her. Granted, her reasons for being concerned and acting like a typical big sister are very well justified. But, I was really rooting for Asia to enter into a friendship with Issei. At that point I did suspect that a love triangle could happen. However, luckily, everything worked out in the end and my worries about disliking Rias were squashed. In fact, the opposite happened. Rias eventually accepts Asia and welcomed her into the world of the devils…

Naturally, I was most upset when Asia died after that, ahem- malicious lady killed her. The villains in this story are very well portrayed. I always think that at least the most villainous of characters will have some redeeming features, like perhaps baddies of this series…NOPE. I hate them all, at least, in this manga. XD I really like girls like Asia and I certainly like Issei, so to see those getting beaten down or besmirched did leave a bad taste in my mouth. I was upset when Asia was abandoned but nearly cried when she died… I then sighed and puffed my cheeks into a wide smile. Asia was brought back to life by Rias and made her, her bishop. I’m very happy indeed. =D

Let’s talk about Raynare, one of the many villains… I mention about redeeming features. She implied that now that she obtained Asia’s sacred gear, which involves healing abilities, she will no longer be laughed at. It makes me wonder if something horrible made her what she is today. Perhaps something drove her mad into becoming a fallen angel? Perhaps I should feel sorry for her? Perhaps I should look at it from her point of view? Perhaps her reason for killing Issei and Asia can be justified? …NAH! I still dislike her. XD I must say though, I did feel for her to some degree when Rias obliterated her. She deserved by all means but isn’t this one of those where two wrongs don’t make a right? I wouldn’t have killed her per se, but, I’m glad Rias did. =)

There are plenty of situations that can be taken as highlights, such as Issei befriending Asia, Asia, the beautiful ladies, but for me the main highlight is the battle.

The on-going battles and action were awesome; it also made me forget about the fact that this is classed as an ecchi manga. The ladies don’t expose their skin just for the sake of it, but when they do, it’s appropriate for the situation.

During the battle the roles of the fighters have been explained. Issei was the perfect protagonist that takes centre stage. His two back-ups, Kiba and Koneko, were the ideal support team. They showed off their skills to a big crowd of villains whilst Issei took on the big dog. To me, this shows that whilst the back-ups may not necessarily be as strong as the main guy, without the back-ups the main guy can’t move forward. In this case, we have Kiba and Koneko utilising their skills to help Issei move forward. If it weren’t for them, Issei wouldn’t have been able to move through that huge mass.

The visuals in the manga play a critical role during the peak and aftermath of the action. We learn about the chess pieces and fighting roles more in-depth. Rias’ explanations are also demonstrated visually as she talks about the pawn’s role and potential. The images have certainly helped me to understand better. We found out in this volume that it took eight pawn pieces to revive him. This is all because of his power, the Sacred Gear, Boosted Gear.

Speaking of the art, the illustrations demonstrated more of the lighter moments of the manga, like, when Asia eat a hamburger for the first time. Her reactions and showing off her clean hands was the highest peak of cuteness. Another cute and funny moment was when she tried to pray to God, but received a shock to the head (due to her new allegiance to being a devil). Her jealous face was cute too… Still, even if she is jealous, she is still graceful and polite. We need more characters like Asia around.

Everything concluded itself nicely, but wait, a new character is introduced. At the same time Rias is looking dejected and subdued… it seems to me that Rias is in some kind of arranged marriage and she’s engaged to this ugly looking geezer. Haha. I’m sort of hoping something happens between her and Issei. That kiss on the forehead was affectionate and endearing, but, I reckon it would have been better if they smooched. Haha.

  1. CONCLUSION

The chess pieces have been explained appropriately, especially the role of the pawn. Had everything been explained straightaway then I would have found it too confusing.

Visual aids and fight scenes were used to further demonstrate the roles of the fighting pieces. Issei took the limelight, showing everyone that he is the main character and showing that he can attain any rank during the fight. And, the supporting devils supported him as they showed off their abilities in their own way.

One of the main highlights for me was the fight scenes. The fights were constant and set at a good pace. There were some cheeky moments. But, these cheeky moments were not used for the sake of it; they were used since its part of the story.

I was sad when Asia died. But, I was as delighted when Rias brought her back to life. I was concerned that I was not going to like Rias but those worries were quashed. It looks as well that the forbidden romance between Issei and Asia may not be so forbidden after all. It can then turn into a straight romance if Rias approves it.

THANKS FOR READING

High School DxD

I’m really enjoying this manga and it has entered into my official top five favourite manga along with Monster Musume and D-Frag. =) Speaking of Monster Musume, since I’m enjoying volume four so much I decided to re-read the whole thing again… it is wonderful. =D I won’t review volume four straight away since I rather not force myself. But, I will review it at least before the release of Volume five.

High School DxD Volume One Review

High School DxD Volume One

Konbanwa.^^/

This week, Monster Musume Volume 4 has gone straight to number one in the New York Times! I’m really chuffed and over the moon about this. I still got my copy on pre-order on Amazon.co.uk and isn’t due out until September 1st. =)

With that happy thought, I present to you my review on High School DxD Volume 1. =)

WARNING: I MAY GIVE SPOILERS AWAY

  1. MY SYNOPSIS

Issei Hyoudou is a typical young man who lives the life of a normal young man. He was one of the most unpopular lads at his school until one day; he went on his first ever date with a beauty; Yuuma. All was well until he lays on the floor in a pool of his own blood, murdered by his date, Yuuma!

On death’s door Issei wished to die in the arms of a crimson-haired beauty…

Rias Gremory, the proclaimed most beautiful lady in school, has saved the life of Issei Hyoudou. After the shocking relevation of Yuuma and being brought back to life, Issei was left with yet another bombshell… he has been reborn as a devil and has become a special piece for the devil, Rias Gremory!

Let the fun times as a reincarnated devil roll.

  1. STORY

2.1. Overview

This manga consisted of four chapters, all of which were quite long, so I really wanted to take my time in reading it. The plot and themes are quite deep so I found that unlike D-Frag or Monster Musume I had to read carefully in order to grasp the story. It’s a really good story by all means but it was necessary for me to take my time with it in order to enjoy it and appreciate the story more. =)

2.2. Chapter One

I did feel sorry for Issei when it turns out that his date, Yuuma, turned out to be a psychotic murderer… on the outside Yuuma is easy on the eye but then she sullied her own attractiveness when she murdered her ‘date’. All anime/manga girls are attractive, no question, but their appealing factor, for me, is their personalities. So, I hereby declare Yuuma as ‘ugly’. 😉

We then get the introduction of two of Issei’s friends who are erotically charged, apparently as much as Issei. I’m not so keen on over-the-top perverted characters but at this moment it seems realistic enough. Over-the-top perverted male characters tend to ‘peek’ on girls and so far, on this occasion, Issei and co are divulging their lust into dirty magazines. I can get that it’s probably what most young men would do. Apart from the fact that Issei is more concerned about his ‘date’ rather than thinking dirty thoughts.

The ravishing Rias Gremory then makes her appearance. =D She appeared in Issei’s dying thoughts and she even gazed up at him as he looked at her from the window… I wondered if there was going to be a connection between the two, and it made me wonder if she had something to do with Issei coming back to life… assuming what he experienced wasn’t a dream. A female waking up in a bed beside the lad is a typical manga cliché but I still enjoyed reading it. It was a wonderful introduction.

2.3. Chapter Two

Poor Issei… he tried to summon himself to the client’s place but it somehow didn’t come to fruition, so, he had to travel via bike. Begrudgingly, I found it hilarious. It went from being cool and dramatic to a mellow and uncool atmosphere. XD He eventually arrives at his client’s place. The client is Mil-Tan who turned out to be a big buffed otaku who likes to cosplay. Haha. The highlight of this chapter, I must say, is the introduction of the sweet and innocent sister, Asia. =)

2.4. Chapter Three

You just know that Asia is sweet just by her brief introduction and with the way that she emitted an aura of a docile and kind personality.

Issei could have easily taken advantage of her and her docile demeanour but he didn’t. However, he did the opposite. He appreciated the kind of sweet girl that she is and he actually looked out for her as if she was a little sister in distress. He was interested in her as a person and helped her to get to the church… even if it did mean causing him some pain, that’s the kind of good male character that I’d like to see. =) He even reacts to her when she shows her cross, since devils are weak against vessels and such from the church. =)

She helped a young injured boy… whilst the boy’s mother gave Asia the cold shoulder the boy thanked Asia for healing him. I’m not sure if she is nice because she’s a sister or if it’s just in her nature, however, I still like her nonetheless.

It will be interesting to see if a relationship brews between Issei and Asia. He’s a human reincarnated as a devil and she’s a nun of the church, so… we could have a forbidden romance on the cards. =D Rias, being the over-protected sister type person, will probably have contrasting views and scold Issei for interacting with someone associated with the Church. And she did just that, but that’s just because Issei met someone of the Church rather than a Romeo and Juliet situation…

And now, in this very chapter, comes the introduction of the battle system… all the devils are pieces depending on rank…. Rias Gremory, who belongs in the Gremory household, is the King and she has her very own pieces. Her queen is Akeno, who specialises in magic and is an extreme sadist… what fun. 😉 Her knight is Yuuto who is a speed type. Her rook is Koneko who uses superhuman strength. And Issei, is her pawn… in a way, Issei being a pawn is quite appropriate because pawn can have more than one meaning. 😉 Is it an innuendo? Poor Issei though… he really has a long way to go to be ‘harem king’.

These explanations were used correctly as Rias and crew battled some stray devil. Everyone showed off their abilities whilst we establish which rank each devil is… Visual aids and simple explanations do wonders for a story. =)

2.5. Chapter Four

Chapter Four, Issei sleeping in a bed- BOOM- Rias is naked next to him. We learn that Rias can’t sleep very well when she’s naked, how convenient. 😉 He resisted touching her through fear and self-control.

In every walk of life, and in manga, girls generally do have some kind of empowerment over guys. Ladies know that the gents love sex and to get in the sack they tend to do jobs or chores for the ladies since they promise them a ‘reward’ so to speak. They’re empowered because they call the shots. In this case, Rias has Issei completely wrapped around her fingers. XD He can grope her breasts if he manages to get someone’s contract… of course, this highly motivated Issei and he got straight onto the job without much fuss… I really liked the way how Rias used the word ‘deman’ in a seductive manner to Issei…mixing man and demon in the same mix… what fun.

Then came the unfortunate encounter between Issei and some chaotic priest, Freed. He got mad and they had a bit of a scuffle, naturally Issei struggled being a devil, but then who should come to his aid but the charming and amiable, Asia. =) This is where the potential forbidden love could start… she learns that Issei is in fact, a devil, her natural enemy… However, it didn’t matter to her that Issei was a devil, because he was her friend. It’s very touching…

Issei got enraged, naturally, when Freed started to get frisky with Asia… she clearly is a pacifist. It’s good that Asia is a pacifist and all but it can cause her problems in certain situations… like this one.

What luck!

Rias and the devil posse came by to aid Issei.

Oh no!

They have to leave because more fallen angels were on the way. And Issei had to leave poor Asia behind. She is the enemy of the devils and she can’t be transported through that summon thing since only Rias and her devils can transport through it. That slap from Rias did seem to be a bit harsh. Was there any need for that? Rias reassured Issei that everything was alright, since Asia has nothing incriminating on her that would merit fallen angels to hurt her…

That ending was simply heart-breaking to read. That was when Asia smiled through her tears to Issei that they will meet again… It was upsetting to read. If Freed tried to take advantage of her in front of Issei, just imagine what’s going to happen when he’s all alone with her… anything can happen. What is going to happen? I feel very nervous about Asia’s future. I’m hoping that nothing bad happens to her, but, I don’t like her chances of survival in Volume 2…

2.6. Parody Elements?

I didn’t tag this manga as a parody as it didn’t feel right. However, I did notice sporadic appearances from characters from other anime/manga.

  • The Haruhi alarm clock which is based on Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya by Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito.
  • Posing as Goku from Dragon Ball, by Akira Toriyama, when he’s about to perform the Kamehameha move
  • “I will be harem king” is a shout out to Luffy’s “I will be pirate king” from One Piece by Eiichiro Oda.
  • Motohama’s [Issei’s friend] scouter is a reference to the scouter used in Dragon Ball which is used to detected power levels.
  • Beauty Pure, the title of Matsuda’s porn parody DVD is a reference to the anime, Pretty Cure.

  1. ART AND DESIGN

Miyama-Zero has done a wonderful job with the characters and their design. The artist of this manga does a good job with the art, I find it really cute. I especially like the uniform on the girls of what looks to be a jacket of some kind… I really don’t know how to explain it but I know what I like, and I certainly like that. =D

Rias’s description was good. She has a good dynamic bloody red hair that Issei visualised within his dying moments. It was very appropriate for the situation. It makes you wonder if that is why she had red hair to begin with. With Rias having red hair Akeno having dark hair I wonder if they are supposed to represent English Rose[3] and Yamato Nadeshiko.[4] Their beautiful appearances and charismatic auras does suggest this to me.

  1. CHARACTERS

5.1. ISSEI HYOUDOU

(PAWN)

I like Issei.

By what I have observed he loves the ladies very much both emotionally and physically. Being a young man it’s only natural for him to be interested in the ladies, and he has an alarm clock in the form of Haruhi Suzumiya. Haha.

His imagination is at the forefront when it comes to getting down and dirty. However, when he wakes up with a naked Rias next to him, he becomes shy and awkward. His mind is all over the place. Imagination is one thing, but dealing with reality is something completely different. Issei may have a vivid imagination but this is his first experience of being intimate with a lady, especially with Rias. In a way I find this to be realistic. All young men have lustful desires, but nice young men won’t necessarily take advantage of the opportunity.

It came to light that Issei is a reincarnated devil and he has this strange weapon called the ‘Sacred Gear’. It makes sense now why Yuuma and other Fallen Angels would go after them, as they deem the Sacred Gear ‘dangerous’.

5.2. RIAS GREMORY

(KING)

Rias is incredibly lovely and has a cool yet humble personality.

To top it off, she is a beauty! You see… I actually do have a little thing for girls with wings. Whether it’s angel with wings, devil with wings or succubus with wings… any girls with wings basically! I like mermaids too, but let’s stop there before I get off track!

I instantly like her more than Yuuma. Her self-confidence in her looks and self-assurance is nice to see. How many ladies do you know who would sleep naked beside a young boy you just met? This tells me that she has no shame and that she has no sense of personal space. And she’s totally ok with Issei exploring her chest region should he choose to do so… oh my.

She does strike you as the big sister type who is very responsible and will look out for you if you need her to. However, whilst she is clearly very affectionate she’s also quite sexual in nature. Some of her actions and flirtatiousness can be interpreted on different levels. I would say that she treats everyone in a voluptuousness manner but I’ve only seen her treat Issei in this regard. Is he the special exception perhaps? She seems to sleep naked with him a lot, using him as a ‘pillow’. Perhaps using him as a ‘pawn’ is not a coincidence and that he fulfils her duties outside of the battlefield too. 😉

In some ways she reminds me of Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit as they’re both sensual, seductive and show their affection in a more than physical manner. Out of the two, I do actually prefer Rias. 😉

We know that she’s a devil and all but I actually think that it would be more appropriate to describe her as a succubus rather than a devil. Haha. I’m referring to her confidence in her personality rather than her actually being a succubus[5]. She would never take a man’s soul for her own gain.

5.3. ASIA ARGENTO

(SISTER)

I think Asia’s introduction was actually my favourite introduction of a character from High School DxD. I would talk about her character but I think I pretty much summed up my feelings and perception of her in the whole of Chapter Three. XD

I like girls like her who are caring, sweet and don’t judge. I can see she is a bit of a scatter brain and is a little naive. I deduce that she’s naïve due to her lack of experience in normal society. She also doesn’t get why Issei has a nose bleed. In manga, guys get nose bleeds when they get ‘excited’.

I’ll leave it as that. I look forward to seeing her more in Volume Two, if she survives that is.

5.4. AKENO HIMEJIMA

(QUEEN)

I like Akeno’s sadist side. I like anime girls to be a little bit different and unique. Normally Akeno has the appearance of a beautiful lady and acts with dignity when it comes to etiquette and polite manners. However, the bloodlust will rush when it comes to battling opponents. Being a sadist she gets off when she hurts her opponent badly… haha.

She can definitely compete with Rias in terms of being voluptuous, especially when she’s in battle. I enjoy seeing this side of her but I definitely wouldn’t want to be her opponent!

5.5. YUUTO KIBA

(KNIGHT)

Kiba is pretty cool and reliable. He is the traditional handsome man with blonde hair who will attract the ladies not only with his ruggedness but with his charm too. Very smooth and crisp sword skills too, it’s very appropriate for a knight.

5.6. KONEKO TOUJOU

(ROOK)

Koneko is cute and her looks are very misleading since she has superhuman strength and is Rias’ rook because of her unmeasurable strength. I like her.

  1. CONCLUSION

This is definitely one of my favourite manga, at least top five.

It pretty much has everything that I’d like to see in a manga. Good action with the cast’s rank based on chess pieces. It has a good fantasy story that mixes devils, angels and fallen angels. There are many parts of the story that made me laugh, engage me and make me extremely sad and worried, especially at the end. It involves ladies who have cool personalities, a caring nature and can kick your cherry behind. 😉

Plus, we have the main male who is strong and is interested in the ladies but is not over-the-top about it. He dreams about having a harem… I’m not necessarily a harem supporter but I don’t like to see any girls or guys become broken hearted so I route for a multiple boyfriend/girlfriend so that everyone’s happy… this looks like it could go that way but at the minute we have to see if a relationship will blossom between Asia and Issei.

I wonder if a tension is going to develop between Rias and Asia… better see how things go! Rias doesn’t mean to be mean to her but she is just looking out for her devils, especially Issei.

I’m gnashing my teeth at the thought of something bad happening to her!

I don’t like the fallen angels and stray devils; they treated Issei and Asia terribly. For that, I dislike them. A lot of villains have a reason why they turned evil, but with the likes of Yuuma and Freed, I don’t see any redeeming features.

I simply love the uniqueness and battle system in the style of chess pieces. I like it how everyone has a rank based on chess pieces, with the King being the highest and the pawn being the lowest… I actually wanted to create something similar in terms of a battle strategy based on the chess piece system… High School DxD evidential got there first but I still find it reassuring that other people come up with similar ideas. I see it in a way as fate telling me that great minds think alike. =)
