Dragons Rioting Volume Two Review

Dragons Rioting VOlume Two

  1. REVIEW

I’m on Volume Two and already I think Dragons Rioting is a brilliant battle manga. There’s even a little page at the back of Okayado’s drawing of Ayane as a “Dragon Girl.” I thought that was a brilliant touch. =D

It seems that the main fighters are pretty much over-powered. I know Rino was holding back when she fought Ayane but was Ayane holding back in that fight?

Mell was a brilliant addition to the series and because of her we learned more about certain characters, the connections between certain characters and the introduction of a quirky one. The way she punched Kyouka and the way Kyouka punched Mell was pretty darn awesome. The story progressed because of Mell’s introduction and involvement.

I did like Ayane’s training with Rintarou but my favourite part came right at the end when Rintarou and Mell competed against each other when they had to knock down the school building first. That was fun to read. I did wonder if Rintarou could become a dragon and I think it was fitting that Mell was the one who broached the subject.

Ayane is still my favourite. She’s cute, even when she is serious. I get the impression that she’s been given the Piccolo and Kakashi treatment. By this I mean that Ayane is super strong but so far her battles are all about making her opponent look powerful. However, Ayane is still strong, even in defeat and/or when she’s at a disadvantage.

There weren’t as many battles in this book but the story and funny moments made up for it. =)

Dragons Rioting Volume One Review

Dragons Rioting Volume One

I got this book for Christmas and I can’t express how happy I am that I’ve finally got my hands on the Dragons Rioting manga. =)

  1. REVIEW

To me, this manga offers something different. Instead of the standard of the main male in this ecchi/harem type of story you have a guy, Rintaro, who has a rare life threatening condition called “Hentai Syndrome.” This condition surfaces whenever he is sexually aroused and makes him go into a cardiac arrest. So, he underwent many years of training to discipline his mind and body, under the guidance of his Father.

Rintaro’s training was a success and he enrols in a school, however, to his horror, 99% of the students consist of girls. Oh well… R.I.P. Rintaro, it was nice knowing you.

I think this is unbelievably refreshing. You have plenty of girls, and certain girls, who are not afraid to show their skin in front of Rintaro. Whilst I do feel sorry for the chap I must say that the way he gets out of situations, like avoiding physical contact with the girls, utterly hilarious.

He avoids these “life threatening” situations by using the special techniques that he learned during his training with his Dad. These techniques are part of his Moon of the Reflected Lake. He uses these techniques in the most comical and mundane ways but he also uses them in serious situations and battles. Some of his skills and moves are both quirky and badass.

All the battles and little fights are exciting to read, and the art makes it even more engaging. I think Kyouka is especially cool. I think she’s like the female version of Kenpachi Zaraki as they’re both bloodthirsty during fights and they’re both incredibly powerful as well as durable. She’s scary but I think she’s strangely attractive. Does that make me strange?

The uniqueness and quirkiness of the characters make the battles and manga more enjoyable. That brings me nicely to my current favourite character of Dragons Rioting, Ayane.

Ayane reminds me a lot of Kirin Toudou, adorable to look at, sweet personality but deadly. To put it another way, I wouldn’t want to get on their bad side in a dark alley… or any kind of alley for matter. She is very likable and is extremely powerful. I like it how she displays her power to crush Asuna’s fighting spirit rather than beating the snot out of her. It’s very admirable how she’s willing to endure pain to protect her friends. She doesn’t really need Rintaro to train her but I do think it will benefit her from learning his art of fighting. =)

The battles are brilliant, the art is eye-catching, the girls are beautiful but the plot is refreshing. The three “Dragons” are gunning to be number one in the school but it isn’t without its politics as the Disciplinary squad demonstrated at the end of this volume.

It’s an on-going battle for supremacy and a personal battle for Rintarou to keep his sexual arousals intact.

Ayane Avatar

I’m recovering nicely but I’m still poorly. However, Dragons Rioting has completely cheered me up and suddenly my illness doesn’t seem all that bad. Drawing Ayane has especially kept my spirits up. I could literally draw her all day. The latest picture of her, which you can see just above, is my newest DeviantArt profile picture. I may make it my Twitter cover but I will see how I feel.

For now, I will continue to rest up. Thanks for reading.^^/

High School DxD BorN Episode One Thoughts

High School DxD Born

This show had a nice introduction when Issei was dreaming a pleasant dream involving the beautiful ladies until Raynare entered his mind. He dreamt of her once yet he seemed to be really bothered by it. That’s what happens sometimes in real life. Sometimes dreams feel real, so real that you get caught up in them and it takes a while to realise that they were just a dream. As Issei went through that traumatic experience with Yuuma I imagine it could take him a while to get over it. Then again, why is he suddenly thinking about her? There has to be a reason why she is back on the scene. His hug to Asia was sudden but cute.

Issei is one lucky chap to have so many beautiful ladies move into his house but I never anticipated that the house would undergo a change. Issei’s room looks so spacious. Haha. I think he needs a bigger bed if Rias, Asia and now Akeno are all going to sleep in the same bed as him. I like how Asia snuggled up to Issei as Rias and Akeno had a bit of a spat with each other. I didn’t anticipate Akeno appearing from the bed covers like the way she did.

Rias seems to be bothered that Issei is not calling her by her first name. Instead, he’s referring to her as her president title. Rias shouldn’t worry too much as it will only be a matter of time before he speaks her name. 🙂

Azazel’s speech to Issei about boobs was… unique and inspiring in its own way. Haha. I wonder if Issei is actually going to act upon Azazel’s suggestion in the next few episodes. He, Azazel, told Rias to stop being soft with her underlings. I can’t help but think that Rias has experienced bad luck so far. She was told that she was hesitant by Azazel, Issei is not calling her by her first name and I think she has a bit of a rivalry with Akeno.

That train ride looked pretty cool. It was a steam train as well. =D The Gremory family own a lot of buildings. I’m a bit confused about the reference to Asgard. I think the Gremory family represent the Asgard country or organisation, but it will probably become clearer to me in future episodes. =)

During that train ride Issei and co were somehow teleported away from the train and from Rias’ side. I did have some suspicions that something was up seeing as it all happened when Rias was together with Azazel. That fight with that Tannin dragon was pretty awesome. I like that dragon as a character, he looks pretty cool. I wonder how he was made into a devil though. Is this going to be unveiled at some point in the series?

What’s going to happen to Koneko? She has been acting weird lately. I naturally assumed that she was developing feelings for Issei, given the nature of this anime. However, it turns out that she has an older sister who appears to be up to no good. Perhaps the sister wants to take Koneko back and Koneko is aware of that?

The Title High School DxD “Born” is certainly interesting. The word “Born” means the birth of something, especially the birth of babies. However, in this case, I see it more as a metaphor. Perhaps someone awakens a special ability. Or, maybe, someone dies and comes back to life. I.E., someone is re-born. Maybe that’s why Issei is dreaming of Raynare. Perhaps it’s a premonition of her being re-born? I can’t see that happening but it will certainly be ground-breaking if it did. Perhaps there is no meaning behind the title “Born” and it’s just a title and nothing more than that.

I’m looking forward to more episodes. =)

Dragons Rioting Volume One Japan Manga

I just found out this morning that Yen Press have licensed the manga “Dragons Rioting”. I’ve been excited and buzzing for the whole day. I’ve been so excited that I promptly did a Capoeira work out followed by yoga cool down. =D I’ve always wondered if Seven Seas Entertainment or Yen Press will ever license Dragons Rioting. I noticed that Yen Press tend to license manga that are published by Dragon Age in Japan.

Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun is among the 11 other manga that have also been licensed by Yen Press.

I’m very excited and can’t wait for the first release of Dragons Rioting. =D
Thanks for Reading. =)
